Após a "Segunda Guerra Mundial" em 1945, teve início o período que ficou conhecido por "Guerra Fria" entre os Países de Leste e o Ocidente. O "Muro de Berlim" ou "muro da vergonha" como também ficou conhecido, foi construído em 1961 na sequência do período da "Guerra Fria" e separava a Alemanha Oriental da Alemanha Ocidental.
1945 - 1989 - Muro de Berlim
O "muro da vergonha" foi construído pela Alemanha Oriental (Leste) com o propósito de evitar que os seus habitantes fugissem para o lado ocidental. Na noite histórica de 9 de novembro de 1989 o muro começou a ser derrubado, numa altura em que o Líder Russo Mikhail Gorbachev se encontrava no poder. Após a queda do muro de Berlim, em 1991 dá-se a desagregação da União Soviética e também o fim da "Guerra Fria".
